Surprise

The kind of surprise we favor arriving at our first destination to find a marked change in conditions and a nice spot of wahoo. Not that we were caught off guard, or didn't prepare for them. We simply did not expect significant numbers in the area due to colder water and historical precedent. As I said to our group as we rolled into the zone though "it's the ocean, you never know". As it turned out we had our hands full in a couple of good stops featuring all of the lightning pace action, high stakes drama, and unbelievable occurrences that are commonplace in long range wahoo fishing. The big bonus of all was the size class of these beautiful speedsters. Thirty five to sixty pounds was the spread with most in the 40-45 pound range. Beauties. I'll talk about the yellowtail tomorrow as that's a story in itself. Good fishing on the lower end of things right now. Yes sir. Photo today features a seasoned Royal Star angler from long past. Randy Toepher proved that our style of fishing is like riding a bike. Ten years later he looked like he never left.

If you would like to go fishing with us please BOOK ONLINE or call (619) 224-4764 to get in on the action.
