Another great week on Shasta Lake!

Jeff Goodwin

Shasta Lake is fishing really good this week, especially for Kokanee salmon.  We have been catching kings, kokanee, rainbow trout, and brown trout all week.  The lake surface is really warm and is heating up into the mid 80's every afternoon.  Triple digit outside temperatures this week will surely increase the warm water layers on the surface and that will start to move the trout and salmon down a bit deeper this coming week.  I've already noticed an increase in the bites down deeper than 60' feet, but you can still find salmon and trout up in the top 20' feeding on both small and large Shad early in the morning.  Lower than normal water levels in Shasta are not problematic and we have more than enough cold, deep water to host some really great fishing.  Top techniques for us have been trolling small spoons for the trout and Kokanee in the 45-55' foot marks, while the majority of our Kings are coming on Brad's Cut Plugs behind 8" paddle flashers down deep around the 100' range.  Our summer season on Shasta will run until the end of August and we still have a few available dates.  Please contact Jaynie at (530) 510-2925 for more information about our Shasta Lake fishng trips and many more.  Thank you!
