ECLIPSE: 1 1/2 DAY CHARTER
6-27-2009
Don Padick
The first SFR 1 1/2 day charter was this weekend on the immaculate Eclipse sportfisher out of Seaforth landing in San Diego. The boys have been working extra hard on the Eclipse and let me tell you the boat is looking sharp. Everyone arrive at the landing early, so shortly after 9:00 we were on our way in search of albacore, bluefin tuna and yellowtail. We arrived at the fishing grounds early the next morning and set out the trolling rods. A while later we had our first hit of the day, a nice double albacore strike, both of which were landed. Despite excellent water and mild winds, the albacore just would not come up for us. We had a few more jig strikes thoughout the day and did manage a nice yellowtail off a kelp paddy and a couple of baitfish albacore after a jig strike, We fished hard and ended the day with 11 nice 15-18 lb albacore, 1 yellowtail and 2 bonita. A tough day of fishing for sure, but better than most boats out on the water that weekend. A special thanks to the entire Eclipse crew for their hardwork and we look forward to our next charter on the Eclipse in August.
