EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR

 The park has been busy with anglers going after trout. Trout action has been best at sunrise and sunset. They are taking various colors of PowerBait and night crawlers. Action for bass and crappies has been picking up throughout the day; they are hitting on dark colored plastics and Woolly Buggers. Anglers must catch and release bass through June 30. 

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR

The annual Free Fishing Day kids’ derby is slated for 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Trout and crappies are biting mealworms and night crawler pieces. Trout are also biting rainbow and green PowerBaits, and crappies are biting green tube baits and bright jigs. Largemouth bass have been taking imitation crawdads and worms in darker colors. Fishing is good through the morning but slows significantly in the afternoon. Water levels are lower than usual for this time of year.

LAKE MEAD 

Boaters are reporting largemouth bass, striped bass, and catfish catches throughout the Overton Arm and Temple Bar. Smallmouth bass and bluegill action is hotter in the Las Vegas Bay. Try anchovies for a catfish or striper bite and soft plastics or topwater lures for black bass. Hemenway is producing stripers in the 2-4-pound range for shore anglers and kayakers, with the most action being reported in the early morning or late into the evening.

LAKE MOHAVE/WILLOW BEACH

Anglers fishing for striped bass at Willow Beach are reporting that large fish are taking 4-inch trout swimbaits. The bite is very slow during the day and picks up in the early morning hours. Rainbow trout are active sporadically and are showing a preference for bright-colored spinners. For a black bass bite on Lake Mohave, try throwing topwater lures, soft plastics, or jigs in the backs of coves.

LAUGHLIN

Striped bass are biting just south of Davis Dam and throughout Big Bend State Recreation Area. A variety of topwater lures, swimbaits, and anchovies are getting hit. Anglers targeting rainbow trout are having success with mice tails and PowerBait. Catfish can be found hiding in the shadows of vegetation along the shoreline of the river.

 WAYNE E. KIRCH WMA

Barbless hooks are helping anglers as weeds thicken across the ponds. Haymeadow and Cold Springs Reservoirs have been good for crappies with anglers using small jigs and night crawlers. Bass are active and hitting on jigs and tubes. The other ponds are offering good fly fishing for trout early in the day and towards evening as they hit the surface for bugs.

URBAN PONDS

Stocked catfish are taking hot dog and night crawler pieces. Fishing is best in the morning when the park opens or towards sunset until the park is closed. Recreate responsibly by giving your fellow angler space to fish and putting your garbage in the bins provided. Saturday, June 12 is Free Fishing Day.
