Trout Bite is Pickin Up

5-28-2021
Big Bear Marina

The trout bite has really been picking up over the last week or so with lots of limits being seen by both shoreline anglers and boaters. Carolina rigs with two to three foot leaders and the usual Powerbaits are doing the trick from the shore, but don’t try to rocket it out there. Keep it on the near-side of the weeds for the best action. Trollers are having luck dragging night crawlers as well as various lures around 10 to 15 feet down, but the luckiest lures all have one thing in common: they’re pink! The bass action fell off during this last cold snap, but with the return of some warmer weather they should be coming in to spawn with lots of built up aggression. And now is the time to stick some carp! They’re thrashing around all over the east end as they’ve started to spawn.

The water temp is high for this time of year between Juniper Pt. to the observatory at 58 degrees. As a result the...... Read More
