Brown Action - Lake Siskiyou

5-18-2021
Scott Caldwell

Quality Brown trout action at Lake Siskiyou has been steady. Working the Lake deep has been the key the past couple of weeks. A few factors have moved the fish around the water column; the lake turnover, wind, and surface temp warming up. Fish can still be caught in the upper 20 feet but I have had more success working  below 20 feet.

Spoons, plugs, dodgers, flies and bait have all produced Trout. The key has been changing them out and showing the fish many different offerings and various depths with multiple scents. You need to put in the time and work the water hard and action can be had.. Speeds between 1.5 and 4 mph S turns stopping slowing down speeding up. Just be will throw the kitchen sink and don't stick with steady Eddy. The fish want variety.
