Well the good news is, when the weather is good, the fishing is usually good. When that wind is blowing it doesn't make for a good day of fishing out there. The fishing has been steady to very good depending on the day. I've noticed after these fronts blow through the water temps crash and take at least a day to recover afterwards. If the surface temps are barely 52 degrees, the bottom temp lags behind a degree or two, and that's not a good thing. When the surface temps break 53 or 54 the fishing gets considerably better. Shop around for warm water this time of year. The bulk of the fish seem to be near sometimes bay in McGee. This is where you'll find the fleet unfortunately. I've also found fish up in the North arm, and I've more often than not been the only boat there. There are a good amount of perch mixed in with the trout, but it's usually worth it for a couple of quality fish without a fleet of boats breathing down your neck. Most of the fish I'm catching are inside of 15 ft. or less. I've seen some fish out really deep, but I haven't really bothered to rig up something to fish in 30ft right now. There are a handful of fish lingering south of six bays towards Sandy point and up just north of Layton near sometimes island. Nothing going on over in the Hiltons or back in Crooked. Got a handful of fish back in Beaver, which is coincidentally the warmest water on the lake almost to 57 degrees yesterday! Bottom line is, the fish are spread out and on the move and with this inconsistent weather, it's making it interesting.
