Fishing, this week, has been GREAT even with all the weather up here. We had it all a bit of wind, rain and even snow. Yup, Friday looked more like Fall except the Aspens were Spring green and not Autumn yellow. We ended up with about 4 inches of snow all total with a few flurries still on Saturday. The Friday snow had melted by late Friday afternoon and boats were back on the lake. Saturday looked like mid-Summer again with the crowds back at Lake Sabrina. Might have to do with the Alper stocking last Sunday courtesy of Inyo County for the:

?? Tagged fish to be placed in Lake Sabrina, North Lake, South Lake, Intake II, Weir Pond and streams in the Bishop Creek Canyon area
?? Tagged trout correspond to predetermined cash prizes worth $30 to $300 each
?? Contestant must bring tag and proof of registration to Bishop Area Chamber of Commerce to claim prize. Opened daily 10am to 4pm. Prizes maybe be claimed any time in June, but all prizes must be claimed by 12:00 NOON on July 1st.
?? All registered participants, regardless of catching a tagged fish, will be entered in a raffle for additional prizes
?? In addition to the tagged fish, all area lakes will receive an extra plant of ALPERS TROPHY RAINBOWS for this event.

Back to the report - Both inlets, Little George and Dingleberry, were doing GREAT with Salmon Eggs, Night Crawlers or Jigs. Trolling Thomas Buoyants or flashers and a worm had anglers cruising around the lake in hopes of landing that $300 tag. We've had two tagged fish caught so far out of the lake, but there's more . . . . and don't forget the large Alpers and Browns still in here. Just ask Gene Case of Fallbrook who hooked a 5-1/4 pound lunker on a RootBeer-colored Trout Teaser. PowerBait and worms were working both for those drifting around the lake and those on shore. One group bought 15 Red/Gold Thomas Buoyants as they kept catching those darn "rock" fish.

Like I said earlier, we had it all this week in terms of the weather ??? we should be drying out and warming up this week. The lows were in the low 30s and the highs in the high 50s (you could have fooled me ??? my blood must be ready for summer and those warmer temps). Don't forget Howard's weather-guesses at www.MAMMOTHWEATHER.com. Well, when the warmer weather returns, alas, so shall the skeeter, so remember the bug juice and COMMIT TO MEMORY, IF YOU PUT ON BUG JUICE, SUN SCREEN OR FOO FOO JUICE, WASH YOUR HANDS! THEN RUB THEM IN WORM GOO, TROUT ATTRACTANT OR POWERBAIT - GET THE OTHER SCENT OFF!

Also, don't forget your sunscreen and dark glasses, the glare on the water is soooo bright, they just might blind your eyeballs. PONCHOS or COATS MAY ALSO BE NEEDED - YOU NEVER KNOW!
