- Stocking: The LAST trout stocking of 1,500 lbs. is this week! We've stocked a total of 19,000 pounds of rainbow trout this season. Come out this weekend and take advantage of the last stock. Information about catfish season will be released soon!
- What's the catch? Early morning hours were the most productive times for trout. As temperatures rose during the day, trout moved to deeper waters. For shoreline fishing, the T-dock and Cactus Patch are your best bet - any place where you can set up deep. Trout were biting on Powerbait and mini jigs— not 'crawlers, as noted by many anglers. Shiners and Pearl white brush hogs were the best bait to catch bass this weekend. The hot spots were the T-dock, Siesta Cove, and the southern shoreline. We didn't receive any reports of catfish bite this week, but a few panfish were caught in Half Moon Cove on nightcrawlers and meal worms.
- Spring Photo Contest: This year's Spring Photo Contest theme is Life at the Lake. We welcome photos of camping, fishing, vistas, and people enjoying activities at Lake Jennings. Prizes will be awarded in youth and adult categories. The deadline for photo submission is May 31st. For more information about the Spring Photo Contest, click HERE.
- Private Boat Launching: As a reminder, personal watercraft, inflatable rafts, sailboats, amphi-cars, and waders are prohibited at Lake Jennings as dictated by our recreation permit through the Dept. of Health, Division of Drinking Water. All private boats launched at the lake must have a solid transom and deck in addition to a discernible bow/hull. No bathrooms on board please. Thank you for complying with these specifications, so we can continue to offer fishing and boating at Lake Jennings.
- Fireside at the Lake: We have extended our firepit rentals through the month of April. The base price for a firepit is $48 for 4 people. Advanced reservations are required. Rentals include firepit, wood, firestarter, and Adirondack chairs. Ask about our add on packages! Firepits are available for single households only, 4-6 persons. For more information, call 619-596-1306.
- Conditions: The aerator has been turned on for the season, so as the water circulates the temps in the water column will level out. Transparency is 33 feet. For a complete weather report in Lakeside, click HERE.
- Campground News: Camp sites are being snatched up fast! We have a few campsites left for the first weekend in May, but Memorial Day weekend is sold out. You can check online for cancellations or give us a call to make your reservations for May, June, July, and August! Book your lake view site by visiting our reservations page.
- We love receiving pictures from our fishermen and campers! If you have a picture to share, please send it to ranger@lakejennings.org and we may feature it in our newsletter or social media pages.
