Best bets for Weekend fishing
- The weather this weekend is looking good for a day on the water. Here are just a few of the available options:
In the NW Zone, several waterbodies have been stocked with trout recently, including Cleawox, Munsel, Lost, Carter, Dune and Alder lakes, and Big Creek Reservoirs #1 and #2. - In the SW Zone, there have been trout stocked in Lake Selmac and Reinhardt Volunteer Park Pond.
- And in the Willamette Zone, these waterbodies have had a recent visit from the trout stocking truck: Alton Baker Canoe Canal, Cottage Grove Pond, Cottage Grove Reservoir, Dexter, EE Wilson, Green Peter, Junction City, Sunnyside, Timber Linn, Walling and Waverly.
- More winter steelhead are showing up every day in the Middle Rogue from Merlin to Galice.
- Anglers report fair fishing for trout on the Fall and Metolius rivers.
- A few hybrid bass are being caught in Ana Reservoir.
- The Grande Ronde received a bump in flows earlier this week. Once the river drops expect steelhead fishing to pick up.
- With some drier weather in the forecast, look for water levels to drop, and steelhead fishing to improve, in North and mid-coast rivers.

If you were unable to complete a field day last year due to COVID restrictions, you’re not off the hook. The temporary rule expires on March 31, and you’ll still need to complete a field day before you can hunt for bear or turkey this spring. Find a field day.
