BASS
Get your dip nets ready! Large schools of shallow shad have been spotted all over the lake. Bedding and post spawn bass have been biting off the points and along the dams between 5 and 15 feet. Texas rigged lizards and brush hogs, Senkos, jigs, and drop shot rigged straight tails in purple variations have been the most reported baits. Underspin or scrounger fluke combos have returned as a great method for fishing shad schools. Jake Oliver of Fontana caught an 11.9 pound bass fishing with a Rapala in the south corner of the west dam. Kevin Nakada of San Diego caught a 7.3 and 5.2 pound bass fishing with a Spro BBZ 1 along the west dam. Matt Johnson of Hemet caught a 6.7 pound bass fishing with plastic worms in the third cove to the right of the marina. Bill Williams of Visalia caught a 8 pound bass fishing with plastics on the west dam. Jude Wingo of Murrieta caught a 5 pound bass trolling a Rapala on the west dam.

TROUT
Trout fishing has been fair for boaters and shore anglers. Nightcrawlers, Powerbait, Powerworms, and mini Jigs have been the best baits. Most trout catches have been on the east dam or the coves west of the marina. Shad pattern lures are recommended when fishing in shad schools. Terry Harden of Redlands caught a 6.5 pound trout fishing the south shore with a Zeko's Rainbow. Six year old Tristin Jelohek of La Habra caught a 6.17 pound trout fishing the west side with a tube jig.

STRIPER
There were no striper reports this week. The usual baits include swimbaits and topwater plugs.

CATFISH
The Catfish bite has been wide open at DVL. Cats have been biting near the marina, the east dam and, by the rock quarry. Mackerel, anchovies, and shrimp are the best baits. Anthony Sanchez of El Monte caught an 8.7 pound cat fishing from shore with anchovies. Quade Wynn of Hemet caught a 9.79 pound cat fishing from shore with shrimp. Ricardo Martinez of San Jacinto caught an 8.77 pound cat fishing with a spinner bait near the marina. Ryan Tarrant of Whittier caught an 8.5 pound cat fishing with mackerel along the east dam. Catfish Russ of San Diego caught his two biggest cats at 13.5 and 13.8 pounds fishing hear the quarry with mackerel.

PANFISH
The blue gill reports have increased tremendously this week. Many anglers have been catching along the dams with jigs or live worms.
