- Stocking: The next trout stocking of 1,500 lbs. will be this week. The lake will be stocked bi-weekly through the week of April 19th. The upcoming stock will bring our total up to 13,000 lbs. of trout in the lake so far this season. To view an updated stocking schedule, click HERE.
- What's the catch? A 40+ pound catfish was reeled in on Friday during sunset at Siesta Cove! The lucky fisherman was using chicken liver and the cat was safely released. Bass are getting ready to spawn. Males and females are being reeled in and released by the boat dock. Anglers have also caught large-mouth bass off of Sentry Point. Typically a Texas rigged sinking minnow/shiner or green pumpkin Roboworm will do the trick. Bluegill can be found in Half Moon Cove. They are biting on wax worms and nightcrawlers. Trout were hanging out in deeper waters away from the shore this weekend. Fishermen were using glitter Powerbait and Powerworms.
- Trout Fishing Tips: Trout don’t have eyelids and can’t close their eyes, so they don’t like bright sunlight. If it’s sunny out, they’re either going to be deep or look for shade. Areas with tall trees, overhangs, or other shoreline features that block direct sunlight such as the t-dock will be popular with trout. These are also good places for them to hide from predators such as birds and those pesky bass!
- Friday Night Fishing is back! The curfew has been lifted and the fish are waiting for you. The lake will be open 3:00 p.m. to midnight every Friday night. Take advantage of that sunset bite or try to tempt one of our big cats! Full sized lanterns required after 5:00 p.m. The lake gate will close at 10:00 p.m.
- Fishing Line Recycling: Your fishing line is made of strong flexible plastic called monofilament. Monofilament is not biodegradable and animals can ingest it or become entangled. Additionally boats can drive over it, causing damage to engines. We have two monofilament recycling stations at Lake Jennings located at the t-dock. You can help keep monofilament out of the environment by recycling your fishing line. Reel in and recycle!
- Conditions: The current water temperature is 58 degrees. Water transparency is 51 feet. For a complete weather report in Lakeside this weekend, click HERE.
- Campground News: The campground is open for new reservations! Tent campers are welcome too. To make a reservation, visit our reservations page.
- We love receiving pictures from our fishermen and campers! If you have a picture to share, please send it to ranger@lakejennings.org and we may feature it in our newsletter or social media pages.
