Big Snows!

1-31-2021
Matt Koles

Big snows.

Not the biggest I’ve seen, but a good old fashioned Sierra snowstorm. We went from about 40% ytd, snowpack, to about 80% ytd, snowpack. It doubled in about 5 days. Another decent storm on tap for this week too. Winter ain’t over yet, maybe it’s just starting. Probably be one of those Winters when it’s still cold and snowing in May. Thats when you wish sometimes you lived in the valley.

Not much change in the flows on the Truckee River. Though, I imagine when it warms, the low lying snow will melt, and flows will come up on the lower river. Reno got 2 feet in a lot of places.

Not much change in the fishing. Gonna be tough to park anywhere along the river this week until the plows get things cleaned up. Bring yourself a shovel in case.
