Qualifier Crew
Today we arose to good weather, but continued poor current conditions. Poor fishing on the anchor first thing this morning prompted us to raise anchor and go on the prowl for wahoo. It did not take too long to get a jig strike and land our first fish. We were able to pick at the fish for the next several hours before putting the anchor back down. Again, the fishing on the anchor proved to be almost non-existent. The tidal conditions here remain poor; we have been fighting that battle since our arrival. Sometime before lunch, we threw up our hands, pulled the anchor and pointed the bow towards the buffer zone with the hope of better things to come. The weather continues to be in our favor but with more cloud cover today, a welcome relief from the sun. The Bank needs a break and a change of tidal conditions; we hope to make our way back for fish ere long. The photo is of Skip Kenison of Palm Dessert who has been fishing the Qualifier since the late 80's and Travis Laurice a U.S. Coast Guard Licensed crewmember with what will prove to be a delicious dinner in the future. Wish us luck.
