TROUT
The trout bite has begun to pick up some with the cooler weather that has come through as of late, the majority of the fish are still in 40 feet of water and can be caught on Castmasters, Wedding rings, Needlefish or Rapalas while trolling. Bank fishing for trout is tough at this time of the year because of how deep the fish are but if you do not have a boat the best option is to fish at the mouths of the river or the creeks that flow into the lake.
BASS
The bass bite has gotten significantly better here recently with the colder weather and the fish becoming more active and aggressive chasing shad. The topwater bite early in the morning has been very good and later in the day the fish begin to scatter a little more. During the middle of the day a good option would be a dropshot, carolina rig, jig, senko or a crankbait anywhere from 15 feet to even 55 feet of water depending on the weather that day. (cooler weather brings the fish up, warmer weather moves them deeper)
CATFISH
Many of the catfish being caught right now are in 10-30 foot of water and can be caught on a variety of different cut baits or worms. There is still plenty of catfish to be caught during the mid day and some of the biggest in our tournament have been caught in the middle of the day. The night bite has begun to get even better but there is a lot of smaller catfish being caught.
GLORY HOLE SPORTS ANNUAL CATFISH CONTEST UPDATE
Kevin Cranford has caught the largest catfish in our contest so far with four days left to go, LAST DAY Sat. 10/31/20 He caught a 12.85 lb brute during the middle of the day.
CRAPPIE
The crappie bite has dropped off, possibly due to the heat and like all other species they may begin to get more active and move higher up in the water column when cool weather comes. We only have large minnows in stock at the moment.
