EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR

Rainbow and tiger trout action has been good following the recent NDOW trout plants. The fish are taking spinners with yellow and red dots, like “Lil Jakes. Bass and crappie fishing have slowed over the past two weeks as temperatures have begun to drop. The launch ramp is closed due to low water conditions.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR

Anglers have been successful using night crawlers and white or sparkle PowerBait varieties. Fishing from the dam and shorelines has been the most productive. The water level is seasonally low.

LAKE MEAD

In the Las Vegas Bay and Callville Bay, largemouth bass are chasing Rat-L-Traps and topwater lures in chrome. Soft plastics in green pumpkin are working better for smallmouth bass. Catfish anglers are having the most success with anchovies fished in the back of coves. Live shad, shad swimbaits and crankbaits are producing nice striped bass catches for boaters throughout the Boulder Basin. Shore anglers are catching stripers and catfish with anchovies at Hemenway Fishing Pier.

LAKE MOHAVE

 Anglers are reporting good action for black bass at the south end of the lake. Topwater lures are the go-to, but soft plastic worms or chigger craws are producing catches too. Stripers are hitting topwater lures and trout swimbaits. With the drop in temperature, stripers are expected to move in closer to shore. Large catfish are taking anchovies and stink baits fished off the bottom near Katherine Landing and Cottonwood Cove. Rainbow trout fishing is picking up at Willow Beach. Garlic PowerBait and spotted spinners are getting bites.

LAUGHLIN

Anglers are catching striped bass along the Colorado River shoreline. Fish taken at Casino Row are averaging 2 pounds, but boaters are catching larger fish near Big Bend State Recreation Area. Rainbow trout are hitting garlic PowerBait and a variety of spinners.

 WAYNE E. KIRCH WMA

Water levels remain steady across the management area. NDOW has planted trout at all area reservoirs. Trout are hitting nymphs, spinners, and spoons. There were reports of bass and crappie biting before the cold front passed through over the weekend.

URBAN PONDS

The Nevada Department of Wildlife planted catfish at Lorenzi and Floyd Lamb parks, and bluegill at Veterans Memorial and Sunset parks, on Oct. 23. Those will be the last warmwater fish plants of the season. Rainbow trout plants will begin when water temperatures are steadily cool enough at all ponds, probably toward the end of November. The morning bass and bluegill bite slowed with the drop in nighttime temperatures. The action picks up in the afternoon.
