What a great day of variety fishing that included just about every coatal favorite one can imagine. Quality yellowtail were certainly the highlight but all the other party goers added flavor and good old, simple fishing fun to the setting. Lots of bites, lots of scenery that stood in stark contrast to the prior four days offshore - this was a perfect demonstration of the magic, beauty, and diversity of fishing long range. From wrangling giant bluefin on the flatfalls and kites to pitching surface irons at churning yellows shirtless in the glassy warmth of the coastal Baja sun the features entirely unique to this fishery could not have shined brighter. It was a fine day to be sure. And we made a great catch of quality, 15 - 25 pound class yellowtail along the way.
A short late afternoon of bumping our way up the line gave way to a serene sundown anchorage where sudden tranqulity beckoned all to the rail. Whether to fish or simply enjoy and marvel in such a remote, beautiful setting the day was put to rest on the highest of notes. Tomorrow will yield a slice of fishing time as we work our way up the line. Not in the market for big catching or numbers, that part of the voyage has been decidedly accomplished, we'll soak a few lines in a jovial quest for a few tasty bottom grabbers before throwing in the towel. Enjoy today's image featuring Royal Star friend and angler Pete Jones with his beautiful 248.
