Biting On The Cane

4-10-2009
Bill Roecker

"We arrived at Hurricane Bank at 06:45 hours," said the report from Royal Polaris April 9. "Weather here is quite nice with 8 to 12 knots of breeze and a little overcast.
"Fishing today was quite fun. We caught 86 Wahoo and 30 Yellowfin tuna. The largest Yellowfin tuna today was caught by John Halcrow, of North Dakota. John just returned from a tour of duty in Afghanistan and two tours in Iraq. He booked this trip last year from Iraq, while he was in a rather dire situation. He has been looking forward to this trip for a long time needless to say.
"Although we have a full moon tonight, we will be trying for some flyers."
Last Day At The Rocks
Shogun's report for April 9 was written by skipper Bruce Smith:
"As the wind started to blow the biting fish sort of went away. Not totally, we sort of got one at a time then there would be instances that we would have four going. Most of the yellowtail were released as by this time most everyone has their limit and were concentrating on the yellowfin tuna. We had dinner on the anchor then pulled it and are heading for the barn. The weather is a little on the bumpy side."
