Lake Sabrina Weekly Report

Lake Sabrina Boat Landing Staff

Just in time for the Fall colors. The US Forest Service is opening back up the Inyo National Forest on Friday, September 25, 2020. We’re hoping the breezes cooperate and keep the smoke away – all depends on the direction. The weather, when we haven’t had smoke, has been beautiful and the leaves are changing to a very pretty yellow, orange and red.

The following campgrounds that intend to open on Friday are Camp Sabrina, Four Jeffery, Lower Intake 2 and BitterBrush. There are fire restrictions – Open Fires will be allowed in Developed sites only and only stoves will be allowed outside of developed sites.

Not sure about fishing, as fishing has been closed down since September 7th.

With the closure of the Forest, a few animals that we don’t normally see have come out to play – a bear on the dam and one trying to get in our dumpster and three mountain lions down in the Aspendell area and one was also spotted on the South Lake Road. The deer are starting to migrate, so just take it slow when driving in the mountains. The Eagles are still flying gracefully across the Lake looking for fish.

The work continues on the Auxiliary Spillway. They had a small pour on the spillway last week and plan on that big pour when they lay a concrete hose across the dam and pump the concrete 900 feet. Could get pretty interesting in the parking lot when that starts up.

We have closed the Café for the season – no breakfast or pie and ice cream.

FALL HOURS

Starting when we can open again!

Monday thru Thursday – 8:00am to 6:00pm

Friday thru Sunday – 7:00am to 7:00pm
