Successful Day of Kayak Fishing

Father son duo has a successful day kayak fishing. Got a 17.5 and a 16.5 pound catfish. Ramzie & Kodie Cook will never forget this day!

Catfish are feeding in deeper water. Going for worms or cut baits. Bass have been hitting on light colored flukes or dark senkos set up wacky rig style. Bluegill and redear are loving these red worms and hitting around 6 feet deep. The water clarity is still poor but fishing is turning around. Even heard a few crappie being caught with yellow or grasshopper colored jigs like 30 feet down in the center of coves.

The water is still a bit warm and murky holding the fish down deep with little to no activity. Top water frogs and lures have made for some decent blow ups but no one seems to get a good look at the fish. Dark senko with red flecks and creature baits with blue flecks are some of the options people have had luck with. Catfishing extravaganza around here.. all under 15 pounds so no record breakers but biting like crazy. The bluegill are hitting on red worms about 10 feet from the shore line. Bass are marking from the top to the bottom but a very slow bite. I have heard a lot fo top water frog hits but no good landings. Crappie are here and there but not anything to ride home about.
