Recreational spot shrimp fishery closes in Marine Area 4 east of the Bonilla-Tatoosh line and Marine Area 5

Action: Closes recreational spot shrimp fisheries.
Effective date: 12 a.m. Sept. 16, 2020.
Species affected: Spot shrimp and non-spot shrimp.
Location: Marine Area 4 east of the Bonilla-Tatoosh line and Marine Area 5.
Reason for action: To protect egg-bearing female spot shrimp consistent with co-management plans.
Additional information: With the closure of spot shrimp fisheries in these areas, non-spot shrimp fisheries will begin on Sept. 16 and remain open through Oct. 15, 2020. Pots with a minimum mesh size of one-half inch are now allowed in these areas.
Recreational seasons for non-spot shrimps remain open in Marine Area 6 (outside the Discovery Bay Shrimp District), 7 East, 8-1, 8-2, 9, 11, and 13. Please consult the WDFW website for the gear and depth restrictions that apply to harvest non-spot shrimps in these areas.
