Lake Jennings Staff
- Stocking: The lake has been stocked with a total of 4,000 pounds of catfish this summer. Another 1,000 pounds will be added the week of Labor Day.
- What's the catch? Catfish were biting in Eagle and Half Moon Coves over the weekend on mackerel and chicken liver. Catfish are biting during the day in deeper waters accessible by boat. If fishing from the shoreline, our rangers recommend fishing in areas where there is cover or if possible cast to deeper waters. Bass were reeled in from Sentry Cove this weekend. Anglers reported they were biting on Brush Hog green pumpkin and watermelon candy. Many bluegill were caught in Hermits Cove this weekend. Wax worms and half a nightcrawler were doing the trick!
- Friday Night Fishing: We are on a regular schedule now! Every Friday night from 3:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. the lake will be open for night fishing. Full sized lanterns required after 8:00 p.m. Lake entrance gate closes at 10:00 p.m.
- Labor Day is Monday, September 7th: The lake will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for fishing, boating, picnicking, hiking, bird watching, etc. Join us for the holiday!
- Conditions: The water temperature is over 80 degrees and isn't on a cooling trend yet. For an up-to-date weather forecast in Lakeside click HERE.
- CA Department of Fish & Wildlife free fishing day! Always wanted to try fishing, but don't want to purchase the annual fishing license? On Saturday, September 5th you can fish without a California state fishing license. Fees for lake entrance and fishing permits still apply.
- Campground News: Summer is winding down and long term campsites are available starting September 10th. We have full and partial hookups available and some even have a view of the lake! If you would like to know long term availability or have questions, please call (619) 596-1333.
