Andy Cates, skippering the Red Rooster III, filed this report for March 21:
"After a long day of weeding through spots of smaller fish, the evening brought a nice hit on bigger fish. 10 fish around 100 or better up to 180 and 4 fish over 200 pounds. John Aviles picked off a 250-pounder, John Raspberry with a skiff ride for a 240-pounder Bob Milleson with a 212-pounder and John Loftus with a 277-pounder. All the fish were on the sardine.
"The kite and balloons seemed to bring the bigger fish.
"Yesterday we finished off the evening with a few upper hundreds fish . Right at dark we hooked a few bigger fish and ended with one, a 267-pounder caught by John Aviles, a nice end for the day."
Red Rooster III is on her way home, and will arrive at H&N Landing on March 25,m the day the Del Mar Fred Hall Fishing Show opens.
