Big baits picking up big Sacramento River salmon!
This weekend did not disappoint as big Sacramento River king salmon made a good showing. Both Saturday and Sunday's salmon fishing trips had their challanges, the end results were big, bright hard fighting king salmon!
"We have not hooked any small jack salmon yet but did here of a couple picked up by the "dragger's" or "boondoggler's" a few days ago," reports guide Dave Jacobs. "We spent the weekend back bouncing sardine wrapped "old style" or "pre Rapala" kwikfish plugs." The huge bucks couldn't leave them alone on Saturday's trip and even though a small wet weather system pushed into the area Sunday stalling the bite, when the opportunity struck we capitalized on big Sacramento River kings! We have run four or five different plug wrap blends and have zeroed in on a top producer for the last week.
Late August is fast approaching with September being the best time to target Sacramento River salmon. We couldn't wait to share all of this weekends salmon pics from this weekend on the Sacramento River with the guided help of Dave Jacobs and Ryan Tripp.
