  • Stocking: So far the lake has been stocked with 2,000 lbs. of catfish in the month of July. The next stocking will take place the week of August 10th.
  • What's the catch? Blue gill were biting on mealworms all over the lake from shoreline to boats. The bass bite was strong this weekend as well. A 10-pounder was caught at the t-dock. Anglers were using Green Pumpkin Senkos and Aaron's Magic Roboworms to reel them in. There were a few trout nibbles this weekend as well, but they were deep about 30 feet. For the beginner fishermen, our rangers recommend fishing from the shoreline and using nightcrawlers as they are a universal bait. If you need assistance setting up your pole or recommendations on where the bite is strong, stop by the bait shop and ask our rangers.
  • Night Fishing: On Friday, August 7th, we will open the lake from 3:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. for night fishing. There will be no boat rentals or boat launches available. Shoreline fishing only.
  • Conditions: The water temperature is 80 degrees. For an up-to-date weather forecast in Lakeside click HERE. Helix Water District is currently drawing water from the lake. Please be mindful of changing shorelines.
  • No Swimming! We know it's warm out there, but please remember that Lake Jennings is a drinking water reservoir and bodily contact is not permitted. Thank you for your compliance.
  • Kayak Rentals and Regulations: Lake Jennings has kayaks for rent! Kayak rentals are $10/hour or $30 for a partial day. Our 10 foot kayaks feature pole holders and comfortable seats. Launching your own kayak? The launch fee is $8/kayak. Your kayak must be a sit-in kayak and at least 10 feet long, not self-bailing and have seats for all persons inside. No sit-on top or inflatable kayaks will be permitted.
  • Lake COVID Regulations: Only one family unit in the bait shop at a time and everyone must wear a mask both in line and in the bait shop. Hand washing facilities are available at the bathrooms adjoining the bait shop. Please maintain social distancing at all times. Card payment is preferred. Please help us stay open by complying with these simple measures to keep our staff and the public safe.
  • There is no day use or visitors permitted in the campground per county regulations. The campground is only open for registered campers. Please make a reservation before arriving at the campground. Thank you for your cooperation!
  • We love receiving pictures from our fishermen and campers! If you have a picture to share, please send it to ranger@lakejennings.org and we may feature it in our newsletter or social media pages.
