Trouting at Lake Siskiyou

Logan took big fish honors today on Lake Siskiyou, typical teenage smile but he was dam proud of that fish showing every boat that passed by today hahaha, thanks Larry French for arranging the trip for guys it was an awesome day!
Lake Siskiyou continues to put smiles on my clients faces. The Trout action has been outstanding and 20 plus fish days have been the norm. Clients have been picking and choosing which fish they would like to take home an eat. These are some great eating fish if you choose, the meat has great color and flavor. The majority of the fish we have been releasing.
The most productive method has been a Seps dodger with a trailer or a seps spoon tipped with a little piece of worm. ProCure shrimp krill oil or Threadfin shad gel have been my main scent choices. Dipping the the worm in oil puts out a great scent trail and lathering the spoon spoon with the gel is another great combo. Hammered gold or uv green have been two best color choices the last couple days.
Other methods have worked ; woolly bugger or leach patterns on a sinking line, rapalas, and spoons. These methods have caught fish but not nearly as well as the dodgers set ups.
Speed has been the number one key to getting bit. Slow is best 1 to 1.5 mph has been the sweet spot. Faster has worked but the action is not as good. Depth has been consistent and fishing between 5 an 35 feet has been the best. Downriggers are extremely helpful but you can get away with just the dodger and a far setback to get down.
Fishing will continue to be productive throughout the summer give me a call and lets talk about a trip and possible dates. Certainly with everything going on we all want to stay safe an healthy.
