Crooked River Report

6-19-2020
Fly and Field Outfitters

Fishing on the Crooked should keep getting better and better as the week rolls into the weekend. Weather is getting hot, bugs are active and the fish are looking up for dry flies. Pale Morning Duns are coming off along with gray and black caddis from around 10 through the evenings. The flows have been coming down and are right around 160cfs which is a great level for the fish and bugs. We have had a few reports of snakes out that way so be careful and keep an eye on your dogs. Early mornings can be tough and fish will be feeding primarily under the surface until the sun gets on the water. Euro nymphing has been extremely productive and is a great way to catch fish when the hatch is slow.

Recommended Dries: Parachute PMD #16-18, Parachute Purple Haze #18-22, Tilt Wing PMD #14-16, Henry’s Fork Caddis Black or Brown #16-20, AC Caddis #16-14.

Recommended Nymphs: BH Pheasant tail #16-20, Juju Baetis #18-22, Two Bit Hooker #18-22, Soft hackle #16-20, Zebra Midge #18-22, Jigged Pheasant tail #14-16
