DEDICATED BANK ANGLERS CONTINUE TO DO WELL DESPITE THE WEATHER

The rains continued on and off throughout the week, the heaviest last night and early this morning. A good size storm is forecast to arrive Sunday. Water temperature taken at the Marina was 50 degrees at surface and 45 degrees at the 20 foot mark. The Lake is a bit murky (visibility 7 to 10 feet) from storm runoff and you may encounter some debris. Lake level looks to be at least 15 feet below spill and in a holding pattern.

BANK FISHING ---- Fishing still good from the shore, the planters don't seem to be in any hurry to leave the Recreation Area so folks continue to do very well, specifically the Launch Ramp, Rainbow Point, Tom Sawyer Island and the bank behind the EBMUD Boathouse. Sliding sinker set ups were the most successful but some good fish were taken on silver/blue Kastmasters. White power eggs are the hot ticket this week according to the Marina, with night crawlers and yellow power bait also popular.

TROLLERS----The weather hasn't been the best for Trollers but when it cooperates fishing has been good. Haven't spoken to any Trollers personally this report but rumor has it the best spots continue to be the Narrows, the face of the Dam, the River mouth and upstream. Fish are still near the surface in 5 to 15 feet of water. I imagine most are using lead core or drifting with small lures with a scented night crawler. Lots of low areas, watch for hazards to navigation.

RECENT SUCCESS STRORIES---Trinity and Laura Theoktistou of Valley Springs got this great 11 lb stringer of Rainbows at the Jackson Creek Spillway using power bait. Dario Domingues of Stockton got these three lunkers (4.8-5.6 & 6.0 lb) at the spillway also using power bait. The Smith family, Jaceson, Jr, Jesse and Jacob of Sacramento got this 13.02 lb lot of trout at Rainbow Point. Lisa Guthmiller of West Sac landed this 6 lb beauties at Blue Heron point. Kathy and Cory of Sacramento got two limits of trout weighing 21 lbs using power bait at Stony Creek Landing. Last but not least Steve of San Jose posts this nice limit of fish taken with white power bait in the Rec. Area. Good Job-Congratulations to all!

To date 19,000 lbs of good size Trout have been planted by Lake Pardee Inc. and the California Department of Fish and Game with more plant scheduled in the near future.
