Shasta Lake keeps us on our toes!

Shasta Lake had been producing some really good fishing the past few weeks and had us spoiled to say the least.  The past two days produced some limits style fishing but the bites haven't been automatic like the few weeks prior.  Mornings have been best, but if you don't get your limits early, plan on fishing most of the day.  Honestly, its still good fishing and I'm sure it will light up again the next few days.  I checked the water temps and the big temp split starts at 30' and slows down on the cooler side at 40'.  The 53 degree water has dropped to 75' which is now deeper than it was previously sitting a few weeks ago at 60'.  This tells us the warm water layer is slowly growing and pushing down slowly.  Still not much in the way of Shad showing over the deeper water sections, but some bait has been seen in the coves. Once the Shad move out over deeper water, we should see some steady action daily.
