Crabbing off Depoe Bay open for non-residents May 20th

Recreational crabbing will reopen to non-residents tomorrow, Wednesday, May 20 along most of the Oregon coast. Recreational clamming along the entire coast will remain closed to non-residents for now.

Non-resident license holders will be allowed to participate in crabbing in Oregon bays and estuaries, and in Oregon ocean areas, that are south of Cape Falcon. Ocean areas north of Cape Falcon, as well as the Columbia River, will remain closed to non-resident crabbing for now

We are anxiously looking forward to Tradewinds opening-up day this upcoming Friday, May 22nd. We are seeing a decent ocean weather day forecast for that opener with light winds and a 7-foot swell. No direct reports today from the boats out there but in listening to the radio the boats quite quickly loaded the boats with limits on the rockfish side but the captains were still up there till the end of the trip looking for Lingcod.  One captain was throwing quite a few “shorties” as we call them as the Lingcod have to be minimum 22-inches in length.  Crabbing was decent on some botas and only fair on others. ......
