Be aware of Covid-19 boat ramp closures on the river! Trout fishing remains solid in the Maupin area, but it sounds like the people of Maupin are not keen on individuals traveling down there from out of area. Fishing a double nymph rig under an indicator will produce trout and whitefish. Steelhead are settled in to their spawning grounds so we'd recommend avoiding any areas that appear to have steelhead spawning habitat and keep an eye out for redds as you wade. DON'T FORGET: everything upriver from the Warm Springs Reservation Boundary is closed until late April.
