Tight Lines Guide Service Update
4-13-2020
James Netzel
NOW RE-BOOKING Sacramento Delta Stripers. The end of shelter in place order is in sight and I am soooooooo happy!!! With cabin fever sweeping the nation, Tight Lines Guide Service is here to assist you with a day out in the fresh air, nothing to worry about, and to feel the tug of an tasty striper
Though my last newsletter said I was staying open, I thought it wise to shut down because the safety of my valued clients is more important than the bottom line. Plus, I needed to stay complient with the order by the gov't. I will have to admit, I was not very good at sheltering in place. I hit the water a couple times a week just to keep my sanity and am ready to have my clients return to share in the great fishing.
Typically, I shut down delta operations early May to prepare for the upcoming very busy Stampede Kokanee season. But this year, we'll remain in the delta till the end of May. With the low water temps we are currently seeing, I believe the bite will last longer this year as opposed to the last couple years.
Early May is the projected lifting of the shelter in place order. We'll find out more tomorrow according to Gavin Newsome. When that happens, check your calendars quick and book fast because I have quite a few trips that were postponed till the order was lifted. If you postponed youre trip rather than canceling, I have kept a log of deposits on the books, so don't worry, we've got you covered.
Currently we are trolling plugs both deep and shallow and are having excellent results. The water temp has hovered around 58 degrees for quite some time now and that is great news for the trolling bite. When the water warms into the high 60's to low 70's, the plug bite slows and we switch over to live bait. But rest assured, we keep our lures and trolling rods on the boat so we can switch back anytime. There's just nothing like the sound of a screaming drag as the fish hits!!!!
