No rain, No problem! January can be a great month to target big North coast steelhead, but with weeks of no rain in Northern California and Southern Oregon steelhead fishing can be challenging to say the least. Dave Jacobs of Professional guide service spent the day with Sal Mann on the Chetco river in late January for a day of steelhead fishing low, clear water and nailed this nice 11 pound buck while backtrolling small wee warts in the lower river. A little rain will really wind things up on the North Coasts rivers for some awesome steelheading opportunities.
