Sano Tackle ???Get more bites, use Sano tackle???

(Press Release) "Sano" is a slang term coined by the captains and crews of the long range sportfishers out of San Diego Ca. When we see something clean and simple its called "sano" and its origins came from the word sanitary. Sano tackle company has been started by Bruce and Shelly Smith, both of which have very close ties to the long range fleet as well as the fishing community of Southern and Northern California on a whole. Our products reflect this clean, simple philosophy. They are strong, yet lean and come with the strict belief that the less you put in the water on the terminal end of your gear the more bites you will get and the less chance of failure you will have. It is a fact that the more knots, swivels, rings, tubes, thimbles and leaders, the higher your chance of losing that fish of a lifetime becomes. The strongest system is a one-knot connection, but unfortunately, it may not be the best for prevailing circumstances.

Sano's first product: We are proud to present the first product of Sano tackle, Blackwater fluorocarbon wind-on leaders. After weeks and months of learning, experimenting, RandD work and communicating with some of the tackle gurus of the industry, we have settled on a pattern that is the sleekest and among the strongest on the market. We have yet to see any failures and have put them to the test on such proving grounds as Guadalupe Island, The Ridge, Finger bank, Hurricane Bank and the area that contains possibly the most big yellowfin tuna on this earth, the "Cow Pasture."

What we are aiming for here is a virtual "no-knot" system that passes easily through your guides (including roller guides), on the cast or under the pressure of a big fish, and must be able to go back and forth across a guide under pressure for a number of times without cracking or letting go. That meant we had to come up with a flexible seizing along with flexible glue. This was done and we are excited to bring it to you. These leaders are hand laid and spliced by Bruce Smith, come in 30' lengths, range in size from 20-pound to 200-pound, use Blackwater Shock leader and Blackwater 16X super braid exclusively.

Initially, the leaders come with a spliced loop of super braid (that can be cut and then end-spliced to the hollow braid coming off your reel for the true "sano" rig) which is backed up to a full six-foot, single wall locking trap over the top of the BW fluorocarbon. We came to the single wall conclusion because we wanted a sleek, castable top-shot, less bulk, and same strength as a double wall. The seizing is two and a half inch's long of doubled solid spectra and topped off with a flexible cyanoacrylate type of glue. You will notice that this seizing is so tight that it turns the spectra clear, but yet retains its flexibility. Yes, you can bend it with your fingers. Being strong and flexible is crucial at this point. Too many times in the past we have seen other systems fail due to their ridged nature.

To top this off we have taken the time to dye the BW super braid to a camouflage sky blue, to cut the glare of the natural white color and give it a broken appearance in the water. It lets the angler know when he or she is getting close to the fluoro while reeling a fish to the boat.

Thanks for taking the time to read and check us out. I am very happy to be bringing you all this and excited for our future. More leaders and terminal gear will be coming soon.

BFH, Bruce A. Smith
