Good Number of Fish in The Fall Right Now
2-13-2020
Fly and Field Outfitters
There are good numbers of fish in the Fall right now. It has been good to see the fish stick around through the winter and to have the Fall as a viable and exciting option for those trying to stay on the water while others are hitting the slopes. Most fish are podded up at this point and the best approach is to find a group before wetting a line. Many of the standard smaller Midge and attractor nymphs are finding fish right now, but the most consistent feeding activity has been during an early afternoon BWO hatch. The hatch is sporadic and its strength varies by the day. Hope to find fish nosing up to emergers and fish a dry dry dropper when the bugs are coming off. There have been some small Stoneflies out on the right days as well. It’s worth packing a Caddis pattern or two just in case the fish key in on the adult Stones. Fishing a small olive holly bugger is still an option as well, some days the fish are quite willing to take a swung or stripped leech and watching them chase down an offering is just about as fun as it gets!
