Fish Report for 12-18-2008

Lower Owens River Fish Report- Open year round.

Water Conditions:

Flows are at 123 cfs as of 12/18 and have been for a while.
These flows are excellent for wading. Water temps getting colder starting in the high 40's them going to the low 50's in the afternoons. Air temps are in the 60's range. Rain this weekend then cooler.

Fishing Conditions and Hatches: Good

There are a few more people sneaking around the Owens than normal. Look for fish hiding in shallow riffles and tailouts. There's a good after noon BWO Hatch.

Recommended Flies:

-NYMPHS-
#18-20 WD-40 in Black or Grey, #18-20 Zebra Midge, #18 Copper John in Green or Black, #18 Pheasant Tail, #16 Prince Nymph and #14-16 Hare's Ear.

-DRIES-
#16-18 Hatchmaster BWO, #16-18 Hi-Vis BWO and #18-24 Parachute Adams.

Guides Hint: This is a great time of=2 0year to fish from the outside banks. Look for fish behind pieces of collapsed bank material. Stay low and make short drifts with small Midge or Beatis.
