Upper Owens River Fishing Report

12-9-2019
Doug Rodricks

The snow has covered the roads into the river here. Some melting will take place this week, but we are expecting more snow possibly by the weekend. Take great care if you choose to drive in and watch the ruts. Most of the fish are still moving up river and holding in various areas. Our egg patterns have been doing well in the deeper sections and the occasional deeper spots along the banks. Some good midge hatches throughout the day have some fish moving into the slick water eddies to feed. Our snowmobiles are a hair away from navigating the river at this point.

Best Flies: Stimulator – 12, 14, 16; Crystal Copper Tiger Midge – 16,18; B100FB – 14, 16, 18, 20; Spruce a bu dark and light; Loeberg Mallard Silver; Loeberg Guinea Silver, Crystal Midge Pupa Black – 18; Crystal Chironomid Emerger Copper – 16, 18; Broken Back Copper Tiger Midge – 14,16,18, Kiwi Flash and Flamingo Otter Eggs.
