Hi Gang,
We fished yellowtail along the coast of Baja yesterday in very nice weather. Our morning started out a bit slow with not many fish landed. Although fishing was a little slow, the fish we did catch were very good grade with the average around 20 pounds and a few fish around 30 pounds. Just after lunch things changed for the better and we located a couple of schools that wanted to bite. We made 2 drifts over the course of about an hour and had wide open fishing on 16 to 30 pound yellowtail. It was good. Most of our fish came on the yo yo jig. The blue and white Salas 6XJr was working best. Some of the guys had good success with the dropper loop rigs fishing a bait just off of the bottom. Dan Spiegal worked hard at the surface iron and was rewarded with a couple of nice ones. Super fun fishing for us and a great way to end the trip. We had a relaxing afternoon jogging up in nice weather as the guys broke down their gear. Dinner was 'out of bounds' delicious. Coffee crusted seared pork tender loin over a bed of 5 grain blend and brussel sprouts. Thank you Brian and Terry. Our stretch of beautiful weather officially ended early this morning and we have had 15 to 20 knots of wind out of the Northwest to go with moderately rough sea conditions. We have an 0500 ETA to Point Loma Sportfishing tomorrow morning. Thanks for checking in, Captain Bill Cavanaugh and the Intrepid Team
