Fish Report for 11-4-2019
Fishing for steelhead/trout on 85 degree days!
11-4-2019
Jeff Goodwin
As much as I dislike summer weather in the late fall and winter, the Sacramento River steelhead and resident rainbows don't seem to mind at all. Flows are nearing the 5,000 cfs mark and the boards at Lake Redding are almost pulled. This will drop the water above Caldwell Park and that area will see some moveent again. Down River the conditions are great and the Bend Bridge area is in prime shape. I took some good fishermen down there today and we didn't find much of a steelhead bite. Justin fished in Redding today and they found some good numbers of smaller trout and a few steelhead in the mix. Theres a lot more salmon up in Redding so it makes sense that there will be more trout up in town as well. We have three boats running trips this week so I'm sure we'll dial in some good fishing action for clients this week. We need rain in the worst way right now, but thats just not in the cards this week. Next week I'm hoping to see some steelhead action on the Sac, but I'm starting my Shasta Lake trout fishing trips for the up coming year so we'll see what we start to see for fishing on the flat water. With the lake sitting at about 48 feet below full pool, I know of some great structure that will hold big rainbows and browns all winter long. I'm excited to start my Shasta Lake trophy trout trips and think its going to be a great year ahead.
