Fish Report for 12-11-2008

Hot Creek Fish Report- Open year round for catch and release fishing only.

12-11-2008

Water Conditions: Good

The water is clear and cold with snow now in the mountains. Most of the river is fishing great.

Many of the deep holes have become small and most of the fish are tucking themselves under the weeds along side the river. Water temperature are in the 50's by midday.

Fishing Conditions and Hatches: Good

Some big fish are still being taken in the Interpretive Center area stripping streamers and nymphing but they are getting educated.

The canyon is producing nicely from about 11 am until about 2-3 pm daily. Not much of a hatch except warmer days and a narrow window of time but when they startr to munch anything small will do the trick.

Recommended Flies:

Strip black wooley buggers size 12 or bigger in the Interpretive Center zone.. WD-40's and midges in size 20 and 22 early then if you see surface sipping go to small baetis patterns.

Maybe tomorrow will be a different day with the weather getting better by the minute. We will report back. "The Intrepid Team" ...... Read More
