The striper bite is doing ok on both Lake Mohave and along the Colorado river below the Davis dam. Our local angler Ben Aleman was fishing by boat near the casino area and landed a couple of stripers using anchovies. this is a good size and we seem to have a few in this range. However we do have some of the larger fish coming in so have a good know set that drag for those bigger runs that the larger fish are know for. along the river there are some great spots that are producing well . community park has a great shore line and some nice spots for throwing out a line. further down stream we the sunshine peninsula area and rotary park both spots are great for stripers and in the bay can produce a few trout. Which we should be getting our trout plant coming up. I have heard should be the 2nd week in October. Not sure of the day as of yet we will keep trying to get updates as we get closer. I am sure we will get some nice rainbow trout as the hatchery has been doing a great job in raising these fish for our anglers to catch and to help out with the caddis fly issue. This is a good time to break out your trout gear and plan some outdoor time. This is also a great time for the family outings to enjoy our parks and fishing. If you plan to practice catch and release try to be careful with the fish if you see blood in any way it’s a keeper. Even the stripers need some care so they will survive. for example if the hook is down deep cut the line don’t handle the fish much as the slime is a protectant for them and the hook will go away in time. Up on Lake Mohave the striper bite is picking up we have our local angler Bill Gildea was fishing from his boat just out side of the landing using his favorite lure and landed a 16.18 pound striper at 37 and 3/4 inches. I have been getting reports of shad in schools that is one of the stripers main food source. when watching for the boils or the birds you can bet that the stripped bass are close. Hope this helps for now and we will see you in soon to share that catch thanks for all of your support
