Bears Are Entereing Hyperphagia
8-23-2019
Nevada Department of Wildlife
Western Nevada: It’s that time of year again… bears have entered hyperphagia and are needing to fatten up for the upcoming winter, ultimately needing up to 25,000 calories a day! This is the time of year that we get almost half of our annual bear calls. We really depend on all of you in bear country to live responsibly! This means securing your garbage, taking in your bird feeders and keeping your fruit gleaned. Don’t welcome bears to your neighborhood! By having attractants around your house, you’re teaching them that it’s okay to be around people. We have worked tirelessly to put resources available to you on our website in answer to your most common calls. Click on the link below to see what you can do to help bears in your area.
Bears belong in Western Nevada, please help us keep them wild!
