Shasta Lake taking a back seat to river salmon soon!

Looking back its been another great year of fishing on Shasta Lake.  It never really shined like it normally does, but we still caught some pretty impressive trout this year.  Way below average numbers and a pretty slow bite has me looking forward to river salmon season again.  I've hit Shasta really hard the past few years so taking a break to fish for salmon will be a nice change for me.  I'm sure the fall browns will call me back, but if we see another late fall King salmon fishery like we have in the past few years, I might just to have to wait until December to jump back on the lake.  I have another week of Shasta trips, and I'm sure we'll go out in style!  Just like todays trip, we did get into a nice rainbow, but overall the fishing was pretty slow.  I'm marking fish at 100 plus feet, but its the fish in the 70'-80' depths that are actually biting.
