LAKE SABRINA BOAT LANDING
SCHEDULED CLOSE DATE ??? 10/26/08 SUNDAY ??? NOON
(DEPENDING ON THE WEATHER)

We've got more ???fowl' fishing going on on the lake. Two different kinds of Grebes ??? the pied-billed grebe is a small bird (about the size of a robin) and the western Grebe which is about the size of a crow dive underwater to get their fish and they can stay under for quite a while. Haven't seen the Osprey or Bald Eagle lately (I think they got out of Dodge when that artic air hit last weekend).

After last weekend, the temperatures picked up and we had some awesome Indian summer weather during the week. A bit of snow flurries on Saturday and then another beautiful Sunday less the colors around the lake as the oranges, yellows, golds and reds turned the freezed-dried brown color that comes from a hard freeze. All we need is a bit of a wind for it really to look like winter with no leaves on the trees.

Salmon Eggs and Nightcrawlers are the current ticket to the fish, especially when fishing around the rock piles and back at the Little George or Dingleberry Inlets. Saw quite a few limits come out Saturday. Not many out trolling lately. Department of Fish and Game stocked the lake on Friday.

Not sure what is going to happen this week. Howard is calling for more of the Indian summer to stay with us through the week ??? you may want to check it out your favorite weather guesser or try Howard's forecast at www.MammothWeather.com. The following campgrounds have closed for the season: Four Jeffrey Pines, Willow and Mountain Glen on the South Lake side. Camp Sabrina, Bishop Park, and North Lake on the Sabrina side. The remainder are expected to stay open until October 30 with BitterBrush Campground (the first campground you hit coming up the hill ??? the new one) staying open all year round with NO potable water during the winter. IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE WEATHER.

Nimrod could be seen jumping from snowless spot to snowless spot once the snow started melting. His little feet just aren't up to that cold white stuff. Then there was Hi and Lo who were so happy to be able to cool down laying in the snow. I don't know what it is about Lo ??? he wants to come in at the warmest of cool temperatures, but then loves to lay and roll in the snow ??? Hi as you know will stand in the ice cold water fishing all day shivering until we pull him out of the lake.

Remember your sunscreen and dark glasses as the snow is soooo bright; they just might blind your eyes.
ALWAYS PACK A JACKET! ! ! !

REMEMBER, IF YOU PUT ON BUG JUICE, SUN SCREEN OR FOO FOO JUICE, WASH YOUR HANDS! THEN RUB THEM IN WORM GOO, TROUT ATTRACTANT OR POWERBAIT - GET THE OTHER SCENT OFF!

The Paiute Palace and Adopt-a-Creek is sponsoring the "CASH OF THE DAY" where the waters of INTAKE II, NORTH LAKE and the BISHOP CANYON CREEKS will be stocked with tagged fish redeemable at the Piute Palace for casino credits. No registration required - just fishin` and catchin`.

Only 1 week left till the end of OUR season ~ fishing season actually closes November 15th. You all have a great week and if the stress gets too great, you all know where to come to get some relief! But, remember you don't need to be stressed to come. WE JUST WANT TO SEE YOU SOON!

OH, HOW, BEAUTIFUL IT IS! The Opener was GREAT! Nice weather, good ice and lots of fish and people. With the warm temperatures, the ice has gotten soft, so Rick and I are both staying off the ice. We have a few new members of the Lake Sabrina Polar Bear Club. Richard Otte of Rosemond is a double member going in the lake both Friday (while checking out the open water) and Saturday (while trying to open a new hole)....... Read More
