A great morning start turned into an extended drift that produced fine action on bluefin for a couple of hours. After that things slowed considerably. We milked it long and hard for a few more before moving. Well aware of these bluefins penchant for teasing we were not surprised to find them fickle and unwilling after the morning go around.
Biding our time until the big afternoon chance to settle scores we poked around for quite awhile effectively mapping out where not to be. Then came the awaited hour and the old inevitable change in fishing threw us a curve.
They did come up, but not nearly in the volume we desired. And, once again, those that did showed little interest in our offerings. We were off them. After dark while scouting around we happened upon the Mother Lode. Huge schools one after another none of which had an appetite for our Snipers or Flat Falls. There is always tomorrow.
Rest assured that we will be on the grounds poised and ready. Good weather, a key component to this zone, is forecast for one more day. We’ll see if we can put it to good use. Photo today features long time Royal Star friend and veteran Terry Uchida with the catch of the day. This eighty pound class beauty was captured through pure expertise. I’ll leave it at that.
If you would like to go fishing with us please BOOK ONLINE or call (619) 224-4764 to get in on the action.
