Fish Report for 6-12-2019
Sacramento River salmon season coming up quick!
6-12-2019
Jeff Goodwin
The Sacramento River King salmon season is right around the corner and one only has to look to the saltwater salmon fishing thats going on right now to conclude that its going to be a good year to fish for river salmon as well! The charter boat fleet from Eureka all the way to San Francisco has seen some great fishing for this time of the year and we're just seeing the tip of the iceburg. By mid August river anglers will be seeing waves of fresh salmon entering the Sacramento River as they head their way upstream to the hatcheries and spawning grounds throughout the system. The Sacramento River has an abundance of cold water this year and that means we'll have salmon stacking up in the holes in many sections of the river above Chico again this year. Its looking like the abundance of 2 year old salmon that were being caught in the saltwater last year have come back bigger and stronger this year. That means we'll see good numbers of 18-22 pound hatchery Kings and surely some 4 year olds in the mix as well. That means we're going to see some 30-40 pound Kings this year! With such a strong run forecasted, we'll see a lot of salmon fishing fans looking for professional fishing guides to get them in on the action. For those of you that haven't booked with a salmon fishing guide service already, you should know that the top guides on the Sacramento River are already filling available dates. I have two professional captains who have teamed up with me this season, both of whom are very good fishermen and great guys too! All three boats are filling dates now and we'll be filling the fish boxes with salmon soon! We'll be using top of the line equipment and fishing from some if the best guide boats in the industry. With room for six anglers in every boat, we can accomodate just about any size party that books with us. We're running private party trips and won't be selling seats or mixing parties just to fill the boat. We do stick to our two angler minimum, but if you are a single, get on our singles list and we'll put a trip together so you can fish for river salmon this year too! Please visit my website to book your trip or call/text me at (707) 616-1905. Thank you!
