Wohlford Lake Fishing Report

6-1-2019
Wohlford Lake Staff

The bass are in shallow water in various stages of the spawn and are being caught on crankbaits, crawdads, and dark colored plastics.

Catfish can be found throughout the lake, but the bite is best at the buoy lines. They like cut mackerel or chicken liver, as well as dough-bait. The carp are noticeably present, splashing around in the shallows, as they spawn. Stop by the ranger station for a dough-bait recipe that works well on both catfish and carp.

Crappie are being caught from shore and by boaters trolling for them. They are hitting Gulp minnows, mini-jigs, and live golden shiners. They are being caught from Bass Point to Crappie Rock, and near the West Buoy Line.

Each month Whopper Contest winners in four categories are awarded a free fishing and boating permit. For information on the contest or fishing conditions, please contact the Ranger Station at (760) 839-4346.
