White Seabass Rearing Program

5-18-2019
James Smith

The California Dawn is teaming up with J&P Bait co and Hubbs Sea World Research Institute In hopes of establishing a WhiteSea Bass rearing program up here in San Francisco Bay.

We Need Your Help!!!!!!

To establish a program we need to collect WSB heads for data. Their is a small tag inserted inside of all the pen raised fish not visible to the naked eye. This data collected will determine how many WSB are swimming up from the south into our local waters. We have to make the argument that these fish are traveling up and down the coast and why SF bay would be a great host for a pen project. We have 2 collection sights, the first is with me, K dock in the Berkeley marina. The second site is with Eric at J&P bait in San Francisco. Even if you get home and drop your heads in the freezer. Returning them to me or Eric at a later date is ok as well.
With any hope someday we will have a viable sustainable White Sea Bass fishery here in SF Bay.

The California Dawn operates out of Berkeley Marina. We are the the only boat in the bay area with a hot galley. If you would like to go fishing with us please call (510) 417-5557. For more information please visit our website www.californiadawn.com.
