Sacramento River in Redding is back in shape!
4-7-2019
Jeff Goodwin
It took one day for the Sac to green up a little after Fridays big rain/hail storm. Justin was back on the river today fishing two clients and drifting Atlas Mikes Chinook eggs for big hungry rainbows! Spring break continues to create memories for families here in Redding, and todays father/daughter team was no exception. As you can see, they had an incredible day of fishing for wild Sac River rainbows with Justin.
I'll be back on Shasta Lake again tomorrow after some days off to get some work done on the boat and will be looking for some big trout bites as usual. The weather ahead is going to be a welcomed change and I'm expecting more warming of the water on Shasta. Shasta was 51 degrees, only 16' feet from full, and that was only due to flood control releases. If left to fill, Shasta Lake would have been spilling over the dam weeks ago. If you havent made your summer plans to visit Shasta Lake, now is the time. We're expecting a lot of visitors again this year. The lakes will have lots of water to recreate in and the Sacramento River will be providing great salmon, trout, and steelhead fishing through late fall.
Jeff Goodwin is a full time Northern California fishing guide. He guides year round for salmon, trout, steelhead, Kokanee, and bass on Northern California rivers and lakes. He fishes many bodies of water in the Redding area, but also guides the Sacramento River and Feather River during certain times of the year. Jeff can also be found on the California coast chasing ocean fresh King salmon and steelhead each year.
