Kevin Osborne docked Intrepid at Pt. Loma Sportfishing September 5 after a six day trip to Guadalupe Island that produced six yellowfin over 75 pounds. There were 17 anglers aboard the Newell trip with chartermaster Mike Tomaselli, who also reps for Seaguar.
"We spent four days at the island," said Osborne, "and it was good fishing."
Gail Orr of Walnut won first place for a 93.8-pounder that fought for 45 minutes after she hooked it on a sardine and a 4/0 Super Mutu ringed hook. She used 50-pound Seaguar fluorocarbon leader and 50-pound blue Izorline on an Avet reel and a six-foot Calstar graphite rod.
"The crew really helped," she said, "but I got him in."
Tackle rep Mike Tomaselli of Garden Grove won second place for an 88.4-pounder, and Corey Angel of LA took third for an 86.4-pound Guadalupe yellowfin tuna.
